About Colo-NESCO

The Colo-Nesco Community School District was formed in the late 1980’s from the Colo School District, and from the Zearing and McCallsburg District: NESCO (acronym for North East Story County). Together, these three communities unite under one district, and we call ourselves the Colo-NESCO Royals.

Zearing houses our students in grades Preschool-4th.  Colo is not only our district office but it also the location for our Intermediate (5th & 6th)  and Junior & Senior High School (7-12).

At the junior and senior high school level, over 80 academic classes, and over 20 extra curricular activities and programs are offered. Extensive use of computers and the Internet, connect students and instructors to the world! Junior and Senior high school students can also choose from an extensive list of vocational classes offered at the Story County Vocational Consortium taught in the DMACC Hunziker Career Center in Ames, Iowa.
