The Colo-NESCO Community School District Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Mr. Marc Snavely has accepted the offer to serve as the District Superintendent and Elementary Principal.  His hire will be official pending board approval at the February 15th school board meeting.  Grundmeyer Leader Search assisted the Board with the successful recruiting and hiring process.

The application period resulted in 17 candidates.  The board conducted seven screening interviews with candidates on Monday, January 25th.  After screening the board publicly named three finalists.  The finalists formally interviewed for the job in person on Tuesday, February 9th.  The formal interviews included a district and community tour, two formal interview teams and an interview with the school board.

After reviewing all the feedback from the interview teams, it became clear that Marc was the best leader to serve as the next Colo-NESCO Superintendent and Elementary Principal.  His elementary teaching background, instructional leadership experiences and understanding of rural schools were key areas that were identified as strengths.

Marc Snavely

Mr. Snavely has served as the Secondary Principal at Wilton for the last four years.  He has also been a principal for Starmont Schools, a School Improvement Consultant for Keystone AEA, and an Elementary teacher (10 years).  His current school is a model for AIW.  He has also been responsible for managing a 1:1 chromebook rollout, managing social media, and many school improvement efforts including Response to Intervention (RTI) and Common Core Implementation.

Marc was excited to accept the position saying, “I am looking forward to this opportunity to serve as the Superintendent & Elementary Principal at Colo-NESCO.  When the position was advertised, I thought this was a perfect opportunity for myself and my family.  After interviewing on February 9th, it became evident that this was the right fit.” Marc and his wife, Kelly, along with their ten-year-old son, Max, and college age daughter, Kerrington, look forward to moving to the area this summer.

Mr. Snavely will transition with current Part-time Superintendent Jim Walker between now and July 1, 2021 when he will officially begin his contract.  The school board wishes to thank all participants in the hiring process for their time and feedback in the important process.  Please welcome Marc and his family to the district.
