About Colo-NESCO

Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year. On behalf of the Colo-NESCO Community School District, Board of Education, Faculty, and Staff, we would like to welcome you to Colo-NESCO.  The District was formed in the late 1980’s when the Colo Community School District joined
NESCO (Northeast Story County) which was made up of Zearing and McCallsburg. Together, the three communities united, and we are proud to call ourselves the Colo-NESCO Royals. PK-4 is housed in Zearing, and the district office and grades 5-12 are housed in Colo.

Marc Snavely, Superintendent

In March of 2020, a 14-million dollar bond referendum was passed by voters in the district after several failed attempts. This building project is currently underway. This includes adding a handicap accessible entrance and lobby area, new preschool classrooms, and an administrative
office in the elementary building in Zearing. A complete remodel of the facilities is also underway in Colo. The majority of the project will be completed before the first day of school with the rest of the project expected to be completed sometime in October. This will give Colo-
NESCO top-notch facilities.

Colo-NESCO also offers high-quality academic programs. Students can choose from eighty different classes and 20 different extra-curricular activities. High school students who qualify can also take academic and vocational classes offered at the DMACC Hunziker Career Center in
Ames. If you are interested in being a part of a school district that has a strong foundation in academic success, Colo-NESCO is a great place to be. We put students first and provide ample opportunities for success. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I can
be reached by email at or by phone at 641-377-2282 in Colo or 641-487-7411 in Zearing.

Go Royals!
